Blogger Challenge Day 2

Day 2: Review a product, service, or a brand

I have decided to review a product that is a favorite to many people and is very popular, I had so many people recommending this product to me so I finally gave in and bought myself a sample size of the They’re Real mascara by Benefit. My reaction is a combination of feelings. I can understand why people would enjoy this product, however it is not my favorite mascara ever. So for this review I thought a pros and cons list would be the best way to express how I feel about the product.

  • Amazing lengthening power, my lashes are always super long when I use this mascara
  • Very black, some black mascaras take a few coats to appear as dark as I would like but wit They’re Real one coat and my lashes are black as night
  • washes off easily, I have had a few mascaras that are impossible to wash off at the end of the night even though they aren’t water proof and it is the most annoying thing waking up with my eyelashes stuck together in the morning because I couldn’t get all my mascara off!
  • Doesn’t clump, this mascara goes on so smoothly and it is so wet at application that it is almost impossible to get that clumpy lash look some people like, so if you are one of those people, this is not the mascara for you!

  • The brush is so sharp!!!!, sometimes it actually hurts to apply mascara because the bristles on the brush are so incredibly sharp
  • Leaves marks on my eyelids? I’m not sure if it’s just because I didn’t get water proof or whatever, but after a few hours I end up with a few black lines on my eyelid where my lashes touch my skin, it’s amazing that my lashes get to be that long! but not so amazing walking around with black marks on my eyes….
  • Not so volumizing, all though this is mascara is crazy good at lengthening, I find myself applying another mascara over top to add some thickness to my lashes, I usually use Maybelline The Colossal Volume over top because I know it will add volume.

Tomorrow is Day 3 of the my blogger challenge: Quote of the Day

Get Ready with Me: Job Interview

Today I am getting ready to go to a job interview at Bath and Body Works in the Bellis Fair Mall in Bellingham!! So I decided to take you along with me in my getting ready process!

First thing when I wake up is take a shower! I don’t shampoo every day because I have dry hair and I find that shampooing a lot makes my hair even drier, but I do condition every day. After the shower I apply my before styling hair products such as my Paul Mitchell Sleek and Shine Serum and my Garnier Marvelous Oil. Then I wrap my hair in a towel to let it dry a bit and put on some comfy clothes. After getting comfy It is time to take care of my face, I apply my Botanics MAttifying sunscreen and Mary Kay TimeWise age fighting eye cream.

While I’m letting my face absorb my moisturizer I eat breakfast, this morning I had a toaster waffle and a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats with Greek Yogurt! My favorite cereal it’s so so so yummy.

Now that I have had breakfast and my face has absorbed my moisturizer, it’s time to prep my face for makeup. Fisrt I apply my Sonia Kashuk face primer to my T zone and my Urban Decay original Primer Potion to my eyes. Then using a foundation brush from Target’s Up & Up brand I apply my Maybelline Fit ME foundation in shade 115 all over my face and then my Covergirl concealer in the shade Fair under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, on my cupids bow and my chin and blend that in using my POSH beauty sponge.

after foundation and concealer

After foundation I start my eyeshadow, I am using my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette today. First I apply Limit to my crease then Burnout to my lower lid, next I blend Factory into the outer corner and a bit into the crease to add depth, and lastly blend Darkside into the very outer v of my lids. Then using my E.L.F. black liquid eyeliner I line my top lids and make a small wing, small because I can’t ever get to big ones to match each other, whoops.

After my eyes are done is when I apply my Neutrogena SkinClearing mineral face powder in shade natural ivory and brush bronzer into the hollows of my cheeks and blush to the apples of my cheeks. My bronzer is actually just a dark pressed powder from Maybelline Fit ME shade 240, my blush is by Mary Kay color Strawberry Cream. Then the final steps, brows and mascara. For my brows I use the E.L.F. Brow Kit in Medium and my mascara is a combination of Benefits, They’re Real and Maybelline Colossal Volume. Now my makeup is done and it’s time to do my hair.

Before I blow dry my hair I spray my Garnier Heat Protect spray then comb a middle part and start blow drying. I give my elf a middle part before I blow dry becuase if I let my hiar do its thing it will never take a middle part! After my hair is dry I spray the heat protect again and apply more Paul Mitchel sleek and shine to control the frizz and begin curling layers of my hair with my Chii Air straightener, making the curls away from my face. After curling I use my fingers to comb through to make the curls loose and bouncy and spray with Herbal Essences Hair Spray, apply some dark pink Mary Kay lip gloss and I’m good to go! Almost… I should probably get dressed! Iam wearing a plain black dress with sheer sleeves from Forever 21 and a Gold necklace I got from a boutique in Winthrup Washington, with black ballet flats from Aldo.

Rose Gold Eye Makeup

20140721_224816    I got some inspiration for this look from Pinterest however the makeup turned out more pink on the Pinterest tutorial even though it was the same makeup, buuuut I wasn’t a huge fan of how pink it was anyways so I am very pleased with how this look turned out.

This look is very easy to accomplish and is perfect for day and is very easy to spice up for the evening. These two pictures are two different days and two slightly different looks.

What I used to accomplish this look:

Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette

Urban Decay eyeshadow primer

an angled liner brush

Maybelline the Rocket Volume mascara

( I used my fingers to apply all of the eyeshadow except for the liner, I find it leads to less fall out and a more vibrant color)

20140722_112830How to accomplish this look:

(In an everyday situation I put on my liquid foundation first then eyeshadow hen concealer and the rest, but for this look I started with the eyeshadow because of how much fall out I had it was easier to clean it up with the foundation. )

Step 1: apply a generous amount of eyeshadow primer to your entire eyelid, the inner corner of  your eye and the lower lash line.

Step 2: apply Dust on your lid up to the crease area and out about half way.

Step 3: apply Nooner to the outer V area but not the crease, bring Nooner out a ways, this is dependent on how big you are wanting to make your wing, small wing, bring the shadow out a little bit, big wing drag it farther out.

Step 4: on top of Nooner apply a small amount of Buzz just to add some shimmer and a bit more pink.

Step 5: blend Burnout into the crease

Step 6: use Strange as a highlighter in the brow arch and inner corner

Step 7: use either Darkside or Blackheart as your liner on the top and bottom, I used Blackheart on the top and Darkside on the bottom because I don’t care for a dark bottom lash line.

Like I said this look is easy to go from day to night, keep the liner light and thin for a day look and make it darker and heavier for  night look.

My Drugstore Lip Favs

I have a relatively large collection of lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip balms. Most of my collection is bought from Target or Rite Aid because I have a very strict cosmetics budget and you can find quality for a good price in a drugstore.

So I’m going to start with lip balms: my ultimate fav lip balm is the Maybelline Baby Lips, I have two colors/flavors. the original clear balm in the blue tube was my first love and I used it to the end and then replaced it with the Cherry Me flavor which is a red color in the orange tube, which you can purchase here . The cherry Me is my favorite because it gives a very natural red color that isn’t sticky and wont get all over my teeth and face. That is my biggest issue with lipstick, it gets on everything if you aren’t careful. My other fav lip balms are the EOS eggs! I have the lemon drop, sweet mint, and summer fruit flavors and I love them all. I have had the lemon drop flavor for a year now and it’s still not gone even though I use it religiously which is amazing to me! I love a lip balm that will last me a while.

Cherry Me

Cherry Me

I have so many different lipsticks it was hard for me to pick 3 of my favorites! But I finally narrowed it down. First off I have Kate by Rimmel London, I have two shades; 01,a deep red color and 08 a dark nude color. I love these because they go on thick and give a fabulous color that is great for a special occasion. The 01 red was my very first red lipstick so I have a special place in my heart for this one ;). Next I have Maybelline Colorsensational in Coral Crush, I love this color so much I decided to go get a Clinique Chubby Stick in the same color so I could have a longer lasting color. For the price I still recommend this brand though. It goes on smooth and light making it easy to get the color you want by layering. And lastly my ultimate favorite drug store lipsticks, Revlon Colorburst.

Strawberry Shortcake

Raspberry Pie

Raspberry Pie

I only have two colors from this band but if I could afford more lipstick I would continue to buy this brand. It feels like a chap stick on your lips but the color is so rich and beautiful. I have Strawberry Shortcake, a pale pink that makes any face look innocent and fresh, and Raspberry Pie which is a deep magenta that can make anyone look bad a$$.

I hope this review was helpful in your next lip stick shopping spree!!

May Wantable Box

So I got an email from a website I had entered a giveaway on and this website was enticing.  It was telling me to order a monthly box of goodies. I investigate this idea of a monthly goody box and thought it sounded like fun! was the website that had sent me the email. You have three choices of a box, makeup, accessories, or intimates. you can either pay $36 per month and receive one surprise box a month or you can pay $40 once for one box. I decided I don’t really have the money for a subscription so i just paid the $40 and got myself one box. I chose makeup because I have an addiction and no I don’t want help for my addiction.

In my Wantable Box I received four items; two Eleece mask mask pouches which retail for $15 per packet. ncLA nail lacquer in Not So Sweet which retails for $16 per polish. La Bella Donna lip stick in the shade Pink Sand retailing for $24.50, and lastly black (noir) gel eyeliner from (Pla) Beauty retailing for $22.

I haven’t yet had a chance to try out the face mask but I am very excited to try it out soon! The nail polish is a beautiful light pink nude kind of color and the quality of the lacquer is top notch! I was extremely excited to see lip stick in my box when I opened it, I LOVE lipstick. Basically every time I go to the drug store or target I end up with a new lipstick! So I was obviously very happy with this gorgeous pink lipstick, the quality is amazing it goes on so smooth and it stays on for a good while as well. In the past I haven’t had good experiences with solid or gel eyeliner, I am a liquid liner type of gal, so I was a bit weary to try to wear this gel liner, but I was quite impressed, it is soft enough to go on easily without pulling my eyelid around and it isn’t a super ark black so I can layer it for any look I want and it’s easy to smudge for a smokey look as well.

Over all I highly recommend purchasing a Wantable box at least one time, it is so much fun and so worth it for the quality of the products you receive. Good job Wantable I am one happy camper with my May box.
